How You Can Help

 

The Kewanee Schools Foundation provides numerous opportunities for strengthening the education and extra-curricular activities of the District's students.  Since its founding,  the Foundation has identified many ways of supporting its mission by providing new facilities, purchasing educational equipment, training educators and supporting the needs of students involved in the arts, athletics, vocational programs and musical programs of the Kewanee School District.

Now you can be a part of the future for our students.  The Foundation offers many ways that alumni and friends can donate to the Kewanee Schools Foundation.  The opportunities include:

Cash Donations -  Please make checks payable to the Kewanee Schools Foundation.  Credit Cards are also accepted.  We accept Visa and Mastercard.  For your convenience, simply click on the "Donate" button on the home page. 

Securities  - Transfer ownership of stocks, bonds or mutual funds or donated RMD distributions from traditional retirement accounts.

Real Estate  - Transfer ownership of homes, farms, or acres of farm land, lots, or other property.

Insurance Policies  -  Name the Kewanee Schools Foundation the beneficiary of a life insurance policy you already own or purchase a new policy naming the foundation as beneficiary.

Charitable Trusts  - Make a future gift to the Kewanee Schools Foundation while providing for your own needs or tax advantages during your life by establishing a charitable trust.

Memorials and Tributes  -  Establish a memorial with the Foundation or make a tribute gift in honor/memory of a loved one, friend, or colleague.

Wills - Include Kewanee Schools Foundation in your will for a specific dollar amount, percentage of assets, or residual of your estate.

In Kind Services and Gifts  - Donate special services, equipment, or useful gifts needed by the Kewanee Schools. 

 

The Endowment Fund

The Endowment Fund is the heart of the Kewanee Schools Foundation.  Just as the heart in a human is necessary to sustain life, so is the endowment fund of our Foundation. 

The Endowment Fund of the Kewanee Schools Foundation provides the following essential services:

  • Supports the fundraising activities of the Foundation to help improve our schools.
  • Provides for the writing, printing, and mailing of the Alumni Update newsletter.
  • Supports alumni activities such as reunions, class meetings and homecoming events. 
  • Supports maintaining our website: www.kewaneeschoolsfoundation.org, so you may gain access to friends and learn of coming events. 
  • Supports maintaining of our class website portal:  www.khsclasswebsites.com, to assist KHS classes with establishing and maintaining their own class website. 

Benefits of providing a gift to the Endowment Fund

  • Donors are the lifeblood of the Kewanee Schools Foundation.  As a donor, you become a member of a successful team that helps support the needs of the schools in our community.  
  • Cumulutative gifts to the Endowment Fund of $1,000 or more are recognized on the Wall of Honor.  This is a wonderful way of memorializing a loved one or letting others know you care. 
  • For larger gifts, naming opportunities exist.  You may be able to name a classroom, Lab or other part of the school in your name, your company's name or to memorialize a loved one. 
  • By providing gift, you will gain the satisfaction of knowing your gift helped sustain an organization dedicated to improving our schools. 
  • All gifts to the Kewanee Schools Foundation Endowment Fund are tax deductible when you itemize your tax deductions. The Kewanee Schools Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.   

Steps to take for arranging a gift to the Endowment Fund

  • Visit with your family, your attorney and/or your financial planner to discuss various tax savings strategies associated with a gift to the Kewanee Schools Foundation
  • Contact the Kewanee Schools Foundation office to arrange a meeting with the Foundation's Executive Director.  The Foundation staff can offer several suggestions to assist you with your giving plans.
  • Decide upon the type of recognition and publcity you and your family or company would like to receive.
