The Kewanee Schools Foundation recently received a $5,250 donation from Union Federal Savings and Loan through a partnership with The Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago and its Targeted Impact Fund.  The grant program encourages member financial institutions to contribute matching funds that support relief efforts for populations hardest hit by COVID-19 in their local markets.

The Kewanee School District plans to use the funds to help provide remote education equipment including internet hotspots to the students of Kewanee Community Unit School District #229.

“We understand the devastation that this pandemic is causing within our communities, and wanted to use this partnership with The Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago to help out in whatever way we could.  We are very pleased to be able to assist the Kewanee Schools Foundation in providing these much-needed resources for the students of the Kewanee School District”, stated Craig Gustafson, President of Union Federal Savings and Loan.

“The Foundation deeply appreciates the generous donation from Union Federal and the FHLBank Chicago Targeted Impact Fund to assist our students in their remote learning.  These are difficult circumstances made a little easier due to the generosity of our community partners,” added Liz Breedlove, Executive Director of the Kewanee Schools Foundation.
